COLIN COOPER (right), mechanical EIT at Noodsberg, presented the paper that won first prize at the EIT (engineers-in-training) conference at Head Office. Kelvin Gibbs (left) (mechanical EIT, also from Noodsberg) took second place and Alfred Mukisi (centre) (chemical EIT, Nakambala) was third. There are currently 54 EITs in the group, including 11 women, and 10 will graduate this year.
THEY'VE done it again! Last year's winners of the two "Supplier of the Year" awards showed that consistency pays dividends when MD Gavin Dalgleish (RIGHT) handed them the title for 2013. They are (LEFT) Mervin Reddy of Elgin Engineering for goods supplied, and (CENTRE) Krish Govender of Barloworld Logistics for services rendered.

AT SASTA Congress 2013, Barrie Skinner’s paper “Variable Speed Drives – out of the box” was judged the winner of the best Factory Operational paper in the Factory Section. Barrie, an electrical engineer in Illovo’s technical services, is shown receiving his prize from Dr Deborah Sweby.
