Fred's AB Sugar IEP Travels
"Fred's AB Sugar IEP Travels"
FRED SIMWASE was one of the candidates for the AB Sugar International Exposure Programme (IEP), selected from across the AB Sugar linked operations. He graduated from the Manager-in-Training (MIT) programme in 2012 and was appointed electrical engineer at Nakambala.
Fred left Zambia in December 2012 and his first stop was South China, at Wuxuan and Luzoui, where he was involved in boiler efficiency and milling performance review/involvement strategies. He says what he appreciated from his China ‘stint’ were good practices such as house-keeping and good plant energy efficiencies.
On the second leg Fred travelled to the United Kingdom and the areas he participated in included the electrical earthing project at British Sugar’s Newark site, review of AB Sugar Technology Campus, and bagasse torrefaction – exploring business opportunities as well as Technology Department reporting.
After receiving certificates of achievement following completion of their six-month programme Fred, together with other AB Sugar International Experience Programme (IEP) participants based in Europe, attended a
dinner with the AB Sugar Group Board of directors.
PICTURED ABOVE at the dinner are (from left) Roy Gent (Illovo to Azucarera), Dr Mark Carr (CEO - AB Sugar), Fred Simwase (Illovo to AB Sugar), and Lorena Cortes Silva (Azucarera to AB Sugar China).
